Andrew Bradshaw whilst a Director at GL Hearn was appointed as part of a team including HTA Architects and WSP to prepare a vision and proposals for the regeneration of the existing Yorke Drive Estate in Newark.
One of the key issues was justifying the loss of an area the equivalent of 3 11v11 football pitches. Through consultation with Sports England, it was demonstrated that this was acceptable given that we demonstrated that the existing usage of the pitches could be accommodated on few pitches through time management and scheduling of playing times.
Extensive consultations were held with Sport England, other stakeholders and the local community alongside soft market testing with a number of local and regional housebuilders to ensure the proposals for the site were not only acceptable to local people, but also market facing and deliverable.
An Outline Planning Application was submitted for the part clearance of the estate and redevelopment of redundant playing pitches for 320 new homes, better sport and play facilities and new community pavilion.
Outline Planning Permission was granted in November 2019 for a scheme which had a vision of high quality new homes, enhanced leisure facilities for the whole community; and improvements of the existing estate.
