Andrew Bradshaw whilst a Director at GL Hearn was appointed by Ascena Developments to prepare and submit an outline planning application for a residential led mixed-use development of upto 340 dwellings on an industrial site located off Bennett Street, Manchester.
The site is located off Bennet Street in a sustainable location close to Manchester City Centre via the Hyde Road providing a direct route to the city centre and both Ardwick and Ashbury’s train stations situated within walking distance of the site.
The site covers an area of approximately 5.0 ha and is currently used as a freight depot and for the storage of inert waste materials.
The site is bounded by the elevated railway lines to the north and west and existing low density residential uses to the south and east.
The proposals comprise of a residential development of upto 340 new dwellings to include 191 no. 2 storey houses and 146 no. apartments in two blocks of upto 6 storeys along with a new community hub and public square.
The proposals represent a real opportunity to regenerate a brownfield site with much-needed new housing, whilst helping to transform the area into a more attractive environment for current and future residents living in West Gorton.
